Hey friends, Dave here with Transfer Express!
Today we’re very excited to show you a brand new heat press that is part of the new Stahls Clam Basic family, The Basic Cap Press.
The Stahls’ Clam Basic Cap Heat Press is a lightweight, affordable option to heat press caps, hats or even easily decorate sleeves and inside tag prints.
This entry-level heat press is packed with features that make this an incredible value, coming in under the price point of the Fusion IQ 360, Hotronix Auto Cap, and Maxx Cap presses.
Of course, with heat printing, we rely on three elements: time, temperature and pressure - and this press has all of them covered.
First, let’s power the machine on with the on/off switch here on the back of the unit. Once we’re powered on, we can check out the digital display on the control board of the unit.
This display allows you to set your temperature and press time, just like the big brothers in the Stahls' Clam Basic line. Using the easy-to-navigate interface, you can enter the main menu by pressing the center button, then adjust the temperature using the up or down buttons on the end.
Here, we’ll get this setup at 335 degrees. One we’re done, a press of the middle button takes us to our time setting - we’ll select 12 seconds. One more push of the center button exits the menu and shows us the current temperature. This is important, because the upper platen will not heat up when the menu is active.
You’ll see our temperature start to rise here - another sign the press is working.
Now that we’ve got time and temperature figured out, let’s focus on the pressure. Right underneath the removable platen is the pressure adjustment dial. This raises and lowers the platen to change the pressure.
It’s easy to access and allows for easy adjustments when you’re switching styles of hats.
Speaking of the lower platens, these are easily removable and work with any of the different sizes of cap platens available from Stahls'.
One last feature on this press that is common on almost all cap presses is the hold-down lever. On the right hand side, you’ll notice this lever allows you to put tension on the hat, to hold it flush against the platen while you’re pressing.
Now that we’re all setup, I want to show you how versatile this press can be for you.
You can press structured or unstructured hats, foam trucker hats, sleeve prints on t-shirts, and even inside tag prints on shirts.
