Hi everyone, Liz here with Stahls' Transfer Express and in this video, we are going to be busting myths that you may have heard about Goof Proof® screen printed transfers.

If you've been interested in incorporating screen printed transfers into your business, then follow along because I'm here to break the five myths about Goof Proof! But stick to the end, because I have a bonus myth I'm going to break as well!

Let's start!

Myth number one: you need special equipment to use Goof Proof transfers.

And here's the truth, all you need is a heat press - no fancy equipment or gear is required. It's very important that you use a good quality heat press because you want to make sure every job is efficient and it's on point every single time, so we need to ensure that time, temperature, and pressure are part of that recipe, to get a successful print.

Medium to firm pressure is required for Goof Proof and if you don't have a pressure readout on your heat press, you can always do the paper test.

Now, what happens if your pressure is too light, that ink is not going to sit into the fibers. But if your pressure is way too firm, that ink is going to spread and it's not going to have a good quality look to it. So in order to have quality prints applied great, you're going to have to have a quality heat press.

On to myth number two: they don't last as long as direct screen printing.

Here's the truth: Goof Proof transfers are commercial grade and they have the durability of a screen print, maybe even more, and that means they match longevity of a screen print, especially when applied with precision.

Also to mention, Goof Proof is the exact same plastisol ink that screen printers use in a commercial shop. The only difference is we print it on paper and gel it, so it's dry to the touch and does not smear. You are fully curing it when you apply the graphic with your heat press.

Myth number three: they're just for 100% cotton t-shirts.

Here's the truth: Goof Proof transfers work on a wide variety of garments such as hoodies,  aprons, hats, bags, uniforms, and so much more! As long as it can withstand the heat, such as cotton, cotton/polyester blends, and polyester.

But also keep in mind, if we are working with polyester fabric, we're going to turn that heat down to 325°F but everything else at 365.

On to myth number four: it's easy to mess up the application.

But here's the truth: Goof Proof is very forgiving. They don't call it Goof Proof for no reason. With high temperature and fast press formula, they're designed to be easy and for consistent application, that even a beginner can use.

Myth number five: they don't look or feel professional.

Here's the truth: Goof Proof has a soft hand, vibrant colors, and has excellent opaque coverage, so this is going to give that retail, polished look.

Finally, our bonus myth: I'm limited to my design options.

Here's the truth: you can use bold detailed designs with multiple colors. We have metallics, neons, and spot-on Pantone matches.
